The Silver Jubilee reunion of the 1987-91 batch of SRM
Engineering College alumni was conducted in a gala gathering at the SRM
University Auditorium on 13.8.2016. The alumni and the University authorities
planned for over a year for the event’s success. The Chancellor of SRM
University, the Registrar and the Pro Vice Chancellor graced the occasion. Also
present were the Director of Alumni Affairs, current and former HODs and
faculty members who had taught the alumni.
SRM 1991 Batch2 In his address, Dr Paarivendhar, Chancellor
said that the strength of the University depended on the welfare of its alumni
and that they are the real resources. Their role is vital as University
rankings also depend on the alumni’s inputs. He exhorted the alumni to attend
University events and assured them of his support always.

Silver Jubilee Alumni Reunion for 1987-1991 batch Alumni
It was the time to take a stroll down memory lane. SRM
University Alumni Reunion of 1987-1991 Batch from Civil, Mechanical and
Computer Science Departments. The get-together started with a grand
recollection of college life memories, success stories, exchange of greetings
between family members of Alumni, sharing respect and gratitude to their
teaching staff and Management.
Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dr. T. P Ganesan, offered his welcome
address. His speech moved the audience into their good old days they had spent
in SRM University. He expressed his utmost happiness in welcoming the alumni
who had met after 25 years after completing their graduation at SRM and took
pride to announce the increasing number of Alumni membership that had reached
more than 11000 till date. There raised big hand of applause from the audience
while mentioning that ‘there is a lot of emotional attachment a student has
when it comes to a get-together like alumni reunion’. He was very happy to declare that SRM
University has been shining in the clouds with rising many number of students
placed in top notch companies. While concluding his speech, Pro-Vice Chancellor
expressed his opinion that he expects more and more alumni to extend their
support for the growth of the University.
Followed by Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof.R. Venkataramani,
Director (Alumni Affairs) delivered his special address to the audience. He
congratulated everyone for keeping in track with alumni activities and
mentioned that SRM University has been planning in a big way to expand alumni
database and encouraged them to stay in touch through social media features
like Facebook, LinkedIn, etc. Some of the teaching staff also expressed their
happiness and gratitude to meet the old students after a long time.
The show was further graced with the arrival of Founder
Chancellor, Dr. T. R. Paarivendhar. In his special address he thanked everyone
from the alumni 1987-1991 batch for the support they share till date and asked
them to correspond to the University for placement and internship opportunities
for SRM University Students. He stated that he is willing to do all the
possible contributions for SRM alumni and presented mementos to the members of
organizing committee.
Everyone from the 1991 batch alumni meet introduced
themselves and many of them stated that they would provide internship and
placement opportunities for students from SRM University. An amount of Rs 4.5
lakh was handed over to the Unviersity from alumni as an endowment fund. .
