Haryana's Edu City to be launched tomorrow with 10 projects

New Delhi, Jun 9 (PTI) Accelerating further development of the NCR region, Haryana will launch its ambitious Rajiv Gandhi Education City project tomorrow with the laying of ten educational institutions' foundation stone. Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda will lay the foundation stone of ten educational institutions that would be set up in an area of 167.74 acres in the Education City at Rai in Sonepat district, on the outskirts of Delhi, that will be developed as an education hub. Among the institutes whose foundation stones will be laid tomorrow include Ashoka University, Asian Educational Society Skyline Business School, Organisation Research and Education, Manav Rachan International University, N C College of Engineering and Research, Hindu School of Architecture, RIMT Technical Campus, Balwant Rai Institute of Technology, Bharti Vidyapeeth University, Pune and S R M Rajiv Gandhi Education City. The stone laying function comes two days after Hooda cleared bottlenecks in the construction of the 135km-long Western Peripheral Expressway, also known as KMP Expressway, connecting Kundli in north of Delhi with Palwal in Haryana, in his meeting with Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit. The projects are expected to accelerate the pace of development in Kundli, Rai and Sonepat city in the National Capital Region. About Rs 107.80 crore has already been spent on the development of Education City and there is a provision to set up an International University Centre also. In its first phase, 40 educational sites are being carved out in 2000 acres in Rajiv Gandhi Education City. The concept plan of Education City was being prepared by ORG group. The National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) has already been set up in Kundli industrial area and the Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology has come up in nearby Murthal.
