Intuition should be encouraged among students as it would help them come out with innovative ideas, said IIT Madras director Professor M S Ananth on Tuesday.

Inaugurating Aaruush'10, a four-day national level techno-management festival, organised by SRM (Deemed) University, at Kattankulathur, Ananth said the concept had not taken root among the younger generation, especially students. "A combination of logic and intuition would help students not only succeed in their careers but also in life," he said.

On the role of innovations, he said that unlike in other countries India was far behind in terms of the number of foreign students in universities and other educational institutions. The congregation of different minds from across the world would help get innovative ideas.

SRM university vice-chancellor P Satyanarayanan said over 7,500 students from across the country were expected. Workshops like AutoBotz and Swarm robotics as well as defence exhibitions will be held. Interested can visit www.aaruush.net for details.
