 The induction program of Medicine and Health sciences happened at Dr. T. P. Ganesan Auditorium, Kattankulathur on August 16, 2012. Parents and students of all the courses under Medicine and Health sciences turned out in considerable number to attend the inaugural function. The program began with the invocation song followed by kuthuvilaku lighting by the guests.

Dr. P. Thangaraju, Pro-Vice Chancellor in his welcome address stated that the health care industry is growing fast to keep up with the pace of the population growth. Dr. P. Thangaraju said that the physicians are the savior of human health and the students need to take the profession seriously and to do justice to the same. He also maintained that induction program is a boosting factor for the start of a noble career like medicine.

 Dr. James Pandian, Dean, Medicine, in his visual presentation, gave a glimpse of SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre. The dean also said that SRM group is going to come up with a multi-specialty hospital at Vadapalani in Chennai which would house eminent physicians with respect to each field. He also explained all the facilities available at SRM University and MoU signed with the foreign university.
Dr. M. Ponnavaiko, the Vice Chancellor, SRM University delivered the presidential address. He highlighted the milestones of SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre. He told the parents to be rest assured about the future of their wards for they are in the best hands. He impressed the audience by stating many anecdotes from his real life.

 Dr. N. Chandraprabha, Director, Health Sciences introduced the Deans, Vice Principals and Head of the Departments of Health Sciences. She read out the brief profile of various faculty members and she advised the new entrants to make use of the stay at campus and to progress in their future.
Dr. Gireesh, Deputy Dean and Vice Principal of SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre congratulated the medical aspirants for choosing SRM. He said that there is huge demand for doctors in India for the ratio of doctors to patients is too less when compared to western countries. Dr. Murukesan, Associate Dean, Dental College then introduced the head of the departments of the dental college.

 Dr. B. Mohan, Professor of Conservative Dentistry and Dr. V. Vidyashree Nandhini, Professor of Prosthodontics explained the laurels won by the dental college for the academic year 2011-2012. The parents were then called on to the dais to share their feedback.
Mr. Santhanam, Father of BDS student, Ms. Akshaya said that he has not seen a huge auditorium and an audience before and he thanked the organizers of the program for giving an opportunity to talk in front of such a learned group. He also expressed his interest that his daughter should join SRM University as a teacher once she finishes her education.

 Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed Khan, Medical Superintendent of SRM Medical College and Research Centre proposed the vote of thanks. The program came to an end with the national anthem.
