This admission season saw a
registration of close to 1,72,585 students for taking SRM Joint Entrance Exam
for Engineering (SRMJEEE). The online test was administered from 16 th to 30 th
April 2018 in 123 venues across the country and 5 venues in the Middle East.
The popularity of the institute outside the state is reflected by the inquiries
from various parts of the country which included 9061 Candidates from Uttar
Pradesh, 7212 candidates from Maharashtra, 5072 candidates from Delhi and 3933
candidates from West Bengal.
Counselling for admission to B.Tech is scheduled
from 11 th -17 th May 2018.
The Counselling is administered centrally at
Kattankulathur for the four campuses of SRM Institute of Science &Technology,
SRM University, Sonepat, Haryana and SRM University AP,Amaravati.
On the first
day of counselling, Dr. T.R. Paarivendhar, Founder Chancellor , SRMIST awarded
several scholarships to recognize and reward highly meritorious students. This
included Founders’ Scholarship which enlisted for a 100% waiver of tuition and
hostel fees which was offered to the top 100 rank holders of SRMJEEE. In addition
to the above, SRMJEEE merit scholarship, Socio – Economic scholarship,
differently-abled scholarship, Employee ward scholarship, SRM Arts &
culture scholarship and scholarships to outstanding sports persons were also
awarded.
At the end of the first day of counselling, it is worthy of notice
that there was a generally high demand for the CSC, ECE and Mechanical streams of
engineering.
