SRMIST Students Sculpt Vinayagar Idols at Clay Modelling Workshop
Kattankulathur, August 17:
The Department of Architecture, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), in association with Unnat Bharat Abhiyan and the Directorate of Campus Administration, organized a Clay Modelling Workshop on Sunday, August 17. The workshop was designed to promote creativity, cultural appreciation, and experiential learning among students.
A total of 140 students registered, with the first batch of 70 completing the session this week. The second batch of participants will attend the workshop next week.
Artists Saravanakumar and Karuppusamy conducted the training, guiding students in clay sculpting techniques with a special focus on creating Lord Vinayagar idols. The interactive session encouraged students to explore patience, concentration, and teamwork while enhancing their artistic skills.
Dr. V. Thirumurugan, Associate Director – Campus Life, Nodal Officer of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, and Convenor of the event, welcomed the gathering and highlighted the significance of integrating art-based activities into academics for holistic student development. Certificates of participation were distributed to students at the end of the session.
The workshop concluded with a group photograph, with students proudly displaying the idols they had sculpted. Participants described the experience as both enriching and refreshing.
