Welcoming the future students and parents from across the country, SRM University held the ‘Counseling 2014’ on May 17, 2014 at the Kattankulathur Campus. The students will have the opportunity to select the course they want to pursue through this counseling interview and hence making the most important decision of their future.<br />

Professor R. Muthusubramanian Director, Admissions invited Professor Lakshmi, the Head of the Department of Software Engineering and the team to light the auspicious <em>kutthuvilakku</em>. The meritorious students who achieved the first 6000 ranks in SRMEE 2014, the entrance exam conducted by SRM University this year attended the session on its first day along with their parents.<br />

They were able to understand about the key features – such as the innovative students, the expert faculty, the high end courses and coursewares, foreign study programs, superlative infrastructure and amenities, lab and library resources – that work to make the university world class through the promotional video of SRM University. The video depicting the recent visit and stimulating speech by Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi to the university on its 9<sup>th</sup> Convocation held in the month of February this year was inspiring as well.<br />
The counseling interview process was then described in detail through the digital presentation by Professor Muthusubramanian. The newly launched separate university by SRM Group, SRM University Haryana is also under the list of institutions to be chosen from. The history of SRM University, the various campuses and programs offered, were also briefed upon. The Merit Scholarship by the University was awarded to over 200 students across all the branches to motivate and support them in their academic career.<br />
Mr. Sivasubramanian from the Office of International Relations elaborated about the various interactive programs at SRM University such as Semester Abroad Program, Summer Program, Dual Degree, Internship program and the like. ‘The University has partnered with over 70 Universities from across the world which would give the students a life-time experience’, he said.<br />
Professor S Ganapathy, Dean, Placement, spoke about the placement activities taking place at the university. He detailed about the broad choice of top recruiting companies for the students to select from for an outstanding career.<br />
Along with help desks of various departments, the IGCHE, The Indo German Center for Higher Education and Semester Abroad Program (SAP) kiosks also attracted the attention of the students and parents alike. ICGHE provides dual degree in association with SRM University offering the students with the opportunity to study as well as gain internship at Germany while gaining degree from SRM University too.<br />
The scholarships for SRMEE 2014 Toppers and SRM Employees’ wards’ scholarship were awarded by Dr. Sathyanarayanan, the honorable president of SRM University. The first scholarship was awarded to V. Akhil who had secured 8<sup>th</sup> rank in the entrance exam conducted by the University and has joined the Mechanical engineering course at SRM.  Following which Mr. Sajjan Kumar Kedia from Chennai who is the parent of Krishna Kumar Kedia and Gopal Kumar Kedia, the twins who secured 13<sup>th</sup> and 19<sup>th</sup> ranks respectively in SRMEE 2014 and have joined for the Software Engineering course at the University.<br />
According to Dr. Sathyanarayanan, the total scholarship of Rs. 20 crore has been granted this year in form of Founder’s scholarship, Sports, Employees’ Wards, Physically and Economically Challenged categories.<br />

In his motivating speech, Dr. Sathyanarayanan specified that the success of an educational institution is decided by the number of students aspiring to join it and the rate of success is consistently growing at SRM. The level of exposure, the learning ambience, the multicultural environment, the comprehensive curriculum should be the deciding factors when it comes to choosing a college or university.<br />

Emphasizing on the importance of research at SRM University, Dr. Narayana Rao, Research Director detailed about the various innovations and ventures by the students of the university. The launch of SRM satellite, the specially designed copters, underwater vehicle, SRM Search engine are some of the innovations by the students. “SRM University is both research driven and research intensive”, said Dr. Rao.<br />

either online or get the application forms from banks, post offices and the
university campuses in Chennai and New Delhi. Foreign and NRI students can
