SRM University celebrated the academic success of its
graduands during the Special Convocation hosted on November 8, 2015 at Dr. T.
P. Ganesan Auditorium, Kattankulathur Campus. It was a moment of proud and joy
for the students to receive their degrees from the Chief Guest of the occasion,
Vice Admiral (Retd.), US Navy, Dr. Ann. E. Rondeau.</div>

The Founder Chancellor, Dr. T.R. Paarivendhar, presided over
the convocation ceremony. Dr. Prabir. K. Bagchi, Vice Chancellor, SRM
University, delivered the welcome address and presented the Annual Report,
highlighting the students and faculty achievements in placement, research and
innovation .He in his welcome note said that, at the end of the day we have to
make education relevant to society, for which it has to go much beyond
classrooms. SRM University is not at the top position by accident, but with
constantly being upgraded academic strategy and infra structure. The quality of
education cannot be seen in isolation, but in a context where the society gets
benefited from. he added, promising to enhance quality education at SRM
University. He urged the graduands to contribute in making SRM a globally
recognized university.</div>

Honorable Founder Chancellor, Dr. T.R. Paarivendhar,
declared the convocation open and invited the Chief Guest, Dr. Ann. E. Rondeau
to deliver the convocation address. Dr. Rondeau, in her speech, thanked for the
special opportunity, honour and privilege offered to her by the University. She
appreciated the parents for supporting the students to achieve heights and
asked the students to thank their parents first, as it would be a moment of
celebration for their family, more than them. She spoke about the importance of
choices and decisions, pointing out that, choices in this era are elastic and
dynamic than ever before. Choices show what we truly are. Dig for information
and mine for understanding. Choose, decide, act and deal well, Dr. Rondeau
concluded.</div>

that leadership is critical to take the nation forward and calling upon
students to turn every crisis into an opportunity, the Chief Minister of Andhra
Pradesh told young graduants at SRM University’s 11<sup>th</sup> Convocation
that it is an exciting time for India as the country is the most happening
place on the globe today.<o:p></o:p></span><br />

Some renowned economists and analysts are say that by 2050 India is going to be
one of the three largest economies in the world. I feel that if we drive our
economy with deftness, we could be the Number one economy in the world”, the
Chief Minister said. Mr. Naidu was the Chief Guest the Convocation where 5615 students
were awarded the B.Tech, B.Arch and B.Des degrees as also 63 doctoral
candidates who were awarded the Ph.D degree. </span></div>

Chief Minister said that students have a huge role in this gigantic task of
taking India forward. “I believe that the future of our country will be decided
by your innovation. Your knowledge and its application. Your entrepreneurship.
Your dedication. Your commitment. In other words, India’s future is on your
shoulders”, Mr. Naidu said. “If you grow, India grows. If you innovate, India
innovates. If you shine, India shines. If you build an entrepreneurial culture,
India becomes an enterprising nation. But if you falter, India falters”, he
added.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "calibri" , sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Lavishing
praise on SRM University and its Founder Chancellor for putting together a first
rate educational institution and for imparting quality education, Mr. Naidu
invited the Founder Chancellor to come and set up an SRM University in Andhra
Pradesh. “But it should be better than SRM Chennai” Mr. Naidu said to laughter
in the audience. “Your Chancellor has created a best University and a best
campus. It is better than any government run institution or private. Everybody
is talking about SRM University”, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister told the
graduating class.</span></div>

you think nothing is possible, then nothing is. But if you think everything is
possible, then it is possible. Convert every crisis into an opportunity”, Mr.
Naidu urged students citing his own example of trying to build the state of
Andhra Pradesh. “… we went through a painful process of division. We are left
with a huge 16,000 crore revenue deficit. We don’t have a capital city. We do
not have infrastructure, nor do we have institutions. We do not have enough
office space to work from. We are in a crisis… I am confident that we can turn
this crisis into an opportunity”, Mr. Naidu remarked.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

the long association with Andhra Pradesh and maintaining that this will
continue in the future, the President of SRM University, Dr. R.P.
Sathyanarayanan pointed out that nearly 20 per cent of SRM students at its main
campus hailed from Andhra Pradesh. “ Mr. Naidu is known as a Common Man’s Chief
Minister, known for his simplicity and humility”, the President said going on
to add that he was also a visionary and a high-tech Chief Minister who has used
technology for public administration, good governance and for the people of his
state. “Now he is in the process of putting together a state of the art Capital
City of Amaravathi”, Dr. Sathyanaranayan said.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

minister at 28, and served the longest term as Chief Minister of the state from

Reception: Participating teams may please intimate to the
Organising Secretary at SRM University Campus, Kattankulathur- 603203, their
date, mode and time of arrival well in advance. The University is located in
the suburban of Chennai, midway between Tambaram and Chengalpattu. Several
passenger and city buses shuttle between Chennai and Chengalpattu. Electric
trains from Chennai to Chengalpattu, stop at Potheri railway station, in front
of which the University is located on the GST Road. Teams reaching Central
Railway stations of Chennai can board by electric trains at park station (just
in front of the central railway station) and get down at potheri. Teams coming
via Trichirapalli to Chennai can get down at Chengalpattu(CGl) and board in an
electric train to potheri (l5km). Get train ticket from your place to Tambaram
(TBM).<o:p></o:p></div>

Accommodation: The teams shall be provided unfurnished
accommodation in the university hostels 24 hours prior to the commencement of
the matches and teams have to vacate the accommodation soon after their last
match. Teams should bring their beddings and own lock and key. Each team will
have to pay a caution deposit of Rs. 500/- which shall be refunded at the time
of departure of the team, after adjusting the cost of damages. if any.<o:p></o:p></div>

Managers Meeting: The meeting of all the managers of
participating teams will be held on 
September 30, 2015 at 6:00.p.m. in the Directorate of Sports (Near
Dental Ground) of the university campus at Kattankulathur. The managers should
hand over four copies of the duly certified eligibility Performa along with the
player’s identity cards to the organizing secretary in the meeting.<o:p></o:p></div>

The managers of the teams should pay Rs.700/- per match as
officiating charges to the organizing secretary before the commencement of

For the Matches we are using LINING champ shuttle on payment
of Rs. 1000/- per box. Teams should use the shuttle which the organizers are
providing.<o:p></o:p></div>

The tournaments will be played as per the latest BAI rules

Organising Secretary at SRM University Campus, Kattankulathur- 603203, their
date, mode and time of arrival well in advance. The University is located in
the suburban of Chennai, midway between Tambaram and Chengalpattu. Several
passenger and city buses shuttle between Chennai and Chengalpattu. Electric
trains from Chennai to Chengalpattu, stop at Potheri railway station, in front
of which the University is located on the GST Road. Teams reaching Central
Railway stations of Chennai can board by electric trains at park station (just
in front of the central railway station) and get down at potheri. Teams coming
via Trichirapalli to Chennai can get down at Chengalpattu(CGl) and board in an
electric train to potheri (l5km). Get train ticket from your place to Tambaram
(TBM).<o:p></o:p></span></div>

accommodation in the university hostels 24 hours prior to the commencement of
the matches and teams have to vacate the accommodation soon after their last

area, hostel and campuses. Any student indulging in any form of ragging will be
dismissed from the college and hostel. Ragging is a criminal offence punishable
under section 116 and various provisions contained in sections of Indian Penal
Code which will impose extreme punishment. Also the guilty will not get
admission to any other institution for 3 years.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">   </span>Names of the students found ragging will be
reported to the Director for further action apart from informing the police.
The day scholar should not enter in any of the blocks in the hostel and the
residents in the hostel should not indulge in any act of ragging either in the
blocks or in the common rooms or in the dining halls, recreation room, sports
ground etc.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">   </span>Honorable Supreme Court has
issued directions on measures against ragging in Educational Institutions. As
per the directives of the Honorable Supreme Court, Separate anti ragging squads
for male and female students have been constituted to check the ragging in the

SRM to launch satellite to moon by 2018

<span style="font-family: Calibri;"> SRM University would be the first
university in India to launch a satellite to the moon by 2018 to do research on
the rocks on the Moon’s surface and their chemical composition. Earlier, the
university had put in space a satellite that is still orbiting the Earth.
Speaking on the sidelines of the counseling sessions for admission to the
University at its Kattankulathur campus on the outskirts of the city,
founder-chancellor Dr T.R. Parivendhar said that their first satellite launched
in 2011 turned out to be a success and still continues to be in orbit even
after crossing its lifetime of two years.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Calibri;">“As we have been successful in our first satellite mission,
we are planning for the second one, which would conduct research on the Moon,”
he said. Elaborating more about the 20-kgs Moon satellite, Dr D. Narayana Rao,
director (Research) at SRM University said the preliminary works for the
development of the satellite started with selection of faculty for the project.</span></div>
