“It is the teacher who has the power to enlighten one’s life”, quoted Dr. T. R. Pachamuthu, Chancellor, to the gathering during Teacher’s Day celebration in Dr. T. P. Ganeshan Auditorium, SRM University, Kattankulathur.  In the midst of all Directors, Deans and other honorable dignitaries, the teaching community was felicitated for all their achievements in teaching profession and research activities.  In his Presidential address, the chancellor remembered and honored his teachers who groomed him for what he is today.  He also mentioned that SRM University teaches the students in a good ambience of teaching faculties. He also wished the teaching community to work towards excellence and make SRM University globally the best. He also remembered the growth of SRM University right from its origin. 

Dr. Manik Sahani, Advisor to the Chancellor gave a motivating speech to the teaching faculty. He stressed much about the importance of inter-personal and intra-personal intelligence required for a person to become successful. It is the teacher, the only person who can make the students imbibe good things from the society and do good back for the society. It is all the wishes and inspirations of a teacher will make a student to be a renowned person in the society. He also remarked that students are always non-biological children of a teacher.

In his Teacher’s day, Pro - Vice Chancellor, Dr. M. Ponnavaikko also felicitated the gathering with his motivative speech. He also listed down the characteristics of a successful teacher and propagated his mantar of teaching the students from known to unknown. He also announced that the number of research papers has increased from the past academic year, which is a good sign of making SRM University globally the best. Following him the Pro-Vice Chancellor (P&D), expressed his gratitude to his teachers by remembering them in this celebration. He also remarked that this was the 21st Teacher’s Day Celebration celebrated in the campus. He also asked the teachers to inculcate good things in them and to preach the good things what they practice. Following all felicitations of the dignitaries, the teaching faculties were awarded for research and journal publications. The program ended with the teacher’s pledge headed by the Director of Engineering and Technology. The Director of Health Sciences delivered the Vote of thanks.
