Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) honored two students of  Department of Software Engineering, SRM University, Kattankulathur, for their outstanding project on Image Processing, titled ‘Enhancing the relationship between the virtual and real worlds using sixth sense as Interface’ on December 26, 2013.
The project applies the Augmented Reality concept of using human gestures to given command to the system just by flick or movement of fingers. This acts as an interface in converting human actions to virtual reality by adapting the Sixth Sense concept. Giving away the award, Shri. M.Manoharan, Principal Consultant/Senior G.M., TCS congratulated the winners and emphasized the need to imbibe competencies for edging over competition. He also stated that the association between TCS and SRM University helps in motivating students for higher levels of learning by providing a stimulating platform.
The Best Student Project Award, instituted by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), is an initiative to promote creativity and socially useful projects in select 100 institutions across the country. Dr.C. Muthamizhchelvan, Director welcomed the gathering and introduced the Chief Guest. Dr. N. Sethuraman, Registrar, in his presidential address shared the experiences of the jury in selecting the projects. The awardees shared their learning in doing the projects to the audience with joy. Prof.S. Ganapathy - Dean Placement delivered the vote of thanks.
