The counselling for various courses of SRM University will begin from June 1, said university officials here on Thursday. At a press conference the officials also said 11 new courses would be introduced from this academic year. The SRM entrance examination (SRMEE 2013) for admission to UG and PG courses of engineering and technology, medicine and health sciences was held on April 20 and 21.

 The counselling for admissions to B Tech programmes will be held from June 1 to 8, in which around 60,000 candidates are expected to participate. “On June 9, we expect 1,500 candidates to take part in the counselling for admission to MBA and MCA programmes. Counselling for Health Sciences programmes will be held on June 10 and for M Tech courses on June 23,” said the officials.
Addressing reporters, chancellor Dr T R Pachamuthu said, “Students from 26 States appeared for the entrance exams with the majority being from Andhra Pradesh (55,739), followed by Tamil Nadu (21,037) and Uttar Pradesh (14,278). Students from AP have achieved top ranks in the exams.”

 While 4,000 students will be admitted in Kattankulathur, 1,000 will be admitted in the Ramapuram campus. Vadapalani campus and Modi Nagar campus (New Delhi) will absorb 600 and 800 students respectively. “We hope that the Union HRD Ministry will give its nod for admitting students in the Tiruchy campus from this year, in the next few days,” he added.
The top ten rank holders of SRMEE and toppers of Plus Two exams across various boards from all 31 districts of the State will be given Founder’s scholarships under which tuition, hostel and other fees will be waived. “Besides, we provide concession in tuition fees for deserving students and to students hailing from poor financial backgrounds,” said Pachamuthu.

 SRM University vice-chancellor Dr M Ponnavaiko, registrar Dr N Sethuraman and director - admissions Prof R Muthusubramaniam were present in the occasion.

This is one of the best universities of India. During my working days in Chennai, I had many chances to visit the campus and the meet the faculties and students especially from the MBA department. It was a wonderful experience for me. Please keep it up SRM University.
