: SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) celebrated a landmark event today as over 8,000 students, comprising undergraduates, postgraduates, and research scholars from various engineering disciplines, received their degrees at the institute's 20th Convocation ceremony. The prestigious event was graced by Dr. T.G. Sitharam, Chairman of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), who delivered an inspiring keynote address.

The day commenced with students eagerly registering at designated counters, where they collected their academic robes and meal tokens for their accompanying guests. Excitement and anticipation filled the air as graduates and their families prepared for this significant milestone in their academic journeys.

At 10:30 AM, the graduates assembled in the university auditorium, awaiting the grand ceremony. Promptly at 11 AM, a dignified procession entered, led by the chief guest Dr. Sitharam, alongside the university’s leadership, all adorned in their academic regalia. The event was presided over by SRMIST Chancellor, Dr. T. Paari Vendar, who opened the ceremony with a heartfelt invocation in Tamil, invoking a sense of tradition and pride.

Following the formal commencement, the Vice Chancellor presented the university’s annual report, highlighting SRMIST’s academic and research achievements over the past year. The report underscored the institute’s continuous efforts to foster innovation and academic excellence.

In his keynote address, Dr. T.G. Sitharam lauded SRMIST for its pivotal role in advancing technical education and research in India. He emphasized the importance of skilled professionals in shaping the nation’s future, stating that the 21st century truly belongs to India. Dr. Sitharam shared a powerful message with the graduates, saying, "You must carry with you a commitment to excellence and a desire to make a difference. You must believe in the limitless potential of this great nation. One thing we need to change is the negative narrative. We must embrace a positive outlook and say, 'We can do it!' And that’s what I want you to carry with you: the belief that you can achieve anything if you have the will to do it."

He further inspired the students by reminding them that the future is in their hands, saying, "You are the torchbearers of this new era. Our time is over. It is all yours now. The world is watching, and the future is waiting for the mark you will make on it. Carry with you the values of integrity, empathy, and innovation wherever you go."

Dr. Sitharam also emphasized the importance of empathy and understanding human values, highlighting AICTE’s introduction of Universal Human Values into the educational process. "I believe SRM is closely following this initiative. With a large number of trainers here, you should make full use of this opportunity. First, understand yourself—why you are here and how you can make a difference," he urged the graduates.

In his closing remarks, Dr. Sitharam encouraged the students to continue shining brightly, saying, "May you bring glory to your families, your university, and your nation." His words left a lasting impression on all those present.

The highlight of the ceremony was the conferring of degrees, where top rank holders and PhD recipients were specially recognized and called on stage to receive their certificates. This moment of pride was followed by the administration of the graduate oath, led by the Chancellor, a solemn pledge underscoring the graduates' responsibilities to society.

The ceremony concluded with the singing of the national anthem, marking the end of a day filled with pride, joy, and reflection. The 20th Convocation of SRMIST was a resounding success, celebrating the academic journey of thousands of students, now ready to embark on their professional careers, armed with the knowledge, skills, and values imbibed during their time at the institute.

This convocation not only marked the culmination of years of hard work but also served as a beacon of inspiration for future graduates.
