workshop (MCW-2018)</b>on 26-27<sup>th</sup> July 2018 to</span><strong><span lang="EN-SG" style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-weight: normal; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;"> provide</span></strong><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span lang="EN-SG" style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"> </span></b><span lang="EN-SG" style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">a conceptual overview of
major analytical techniques for materials characterization with demonstration
on selected techniques. The workshop had 200 participants from different places
across the country.<span style="color: black;"><o:p></o:p></span></span></span></span>

was held on 26<sup>th</sup> July 2018. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Dr.
M. Arthanareeswari</b>, convenor MCW 2018 and Head of the Department of
Chemistry welcomed the delegates. The chief guest <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Dr.A. Ramesh</b>, Director IIBT (Padappai) has inaugurated the workshop
and<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span>in his inaugural address he shared
his deep insights on the role of characterization techniques in crop protection
and discovery research. He emphasized on the importance of the techniques for
furthering sustainable global agriculture. </span></div>

Corrosion is a natural and spontaneous process defined commonly as deterioration of metals in contact with corrosive environment. The effects of corrosion in our daily lives are both direct and indirect. Hence forth there is a need to carry out a systematic study of corrosion mechanism and its control measures. Thus this short term course (STCC 2014) for two days is arranged to inculcate the knowledge about the recognition of corrosion control technologies.<br />
STCC 2014 will provide a forum for revealing various areas of corrosion which includes the microbiologically influenced corrosion, biomaterials, laboratory corrosion testing of industrial products, industrial corrosion, failures and corrosion of material on storage and environmental factors leading to corrosion through the lectures by eminent scientists.<br />
