SRM University wins trophy

SRM University proved its stature as the best collegiate volleyball outfit in the state when it claimed the Chief Minister’s Trophy in the inter-university championship at Thiruvanamalai last week. SRM began the competition with easy 25-16, 25-14, 25-14, against Mysore University, followed it up with another win against Bangalore 25-14, 25-16, 23-25, 25-18. Then it defeated Vel’s 21-25, 27-25, 25-19, 25-16. In the semi finals, SRM prevailed over Sathyabhama 25-14, 20-25, 25-20, 25-18 and beat Calicut in the final, 25-18, 25-19, 25-21. The women’s team finished fourth in the championships.
