A Cyclothon and Plantation Drive was organized on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at 6:30 AM in collaboration with the Government of India and the Tamil Nadu Government's Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 initiative, UBA-SRMIST, SRM Green Club, NSS, REACH, and Maraimalai Nagar Municipality. The event saw active participation from over 75 students and faculty members. The cycle rally, which promoted a culture of cleanliness (Swachhata) and sustainability, covered key areas around Maraimalai Nagar. After the rally, 100 tree saplings were planted near the Maraimalai Nagar Municipal Park to further environmental conservation efforts.
Coordinated by Dr. V. Thirumurugan, Associate Director, Campus Life, and Nodal Officer of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, along with Dr. S. Pradeep, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, the initiative reflects SRMIST’s dedication to promoting green practices and community involvement, contributing to a cleaner, greener future.
