<p> SRM Institute of Science and Technology organized a drug awareness programme titled 'Say No To Drugs' On October 12th, 2022 in Kattankulathur. Ponnusamy, Registrar, SRMIST and Dr. Nisha Ashokan, Associate Director of Student Affairs, and Dr. V. Thirumurugan , Associate Director (CL) also  present the event.</p><p><br /></p><p>The students of SRMIST took oath against the drug abuse by reciting the pledge delivered from Dr. A. Amalraj, IPS, Commissioner of Tambaram City. </p><p><br /></p><p>It becomes imperative to deliver knowledge about drug abuse among youngsters in the present scenarios in order to build a great nation and a drug free society, said Dr. Mahesh Kumar Agarwal.</p><p><br /></p><p>There are only two paths in our lives, that are easy and hard. It is upto to us on choosing the right path for a successful life, he added. </p><p><br /></p><p>Dr. Nisha Ashokan, Associate Director of Student Affairs, SRMIST affirmed in the event that a Marathon Run will be conducted in the Campus of SRMIST on promoting the theme of drug awareness.</p>

Contribution of pharmacists to society remains hidden: Director, Drugs Control Department

<p>Kattankulathur, September 26:</p><p>“Dispensing medicines is not just an art but a service to the community. Pharmacists play a vital role of guiding the patients,” said P V Vijayalakshmi, Director, Drugs Control Department, Tamil Nadu government, while addressing the students of SRM College of Pharmacy to mark the world pharmacist day on Monday.</p><p> </p><p>The event with the theme - pharmacist united in action for a healthier world - was celebrated to create awareness about the role of pharmacists in the society. “Contribution of pharmacists to society remains hidden. Besides guiding the patients in dispensing medicines, they play a key role in clinical trials, research and development, teaching and regulation and enforcement,” added Vijayalakshmi.</p><p> </p><p>“At the peak of the pandemic, when hospitals could not accommodate the patients, pharmacists rose to the crisis by stocking up the necessary medication, providing information on medicines and healthcare centers to the patients. They are the unsung heroes,” said R Nandakummar, Director, Communications, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST).</p><p> </p><p>“Pharmacists are the most accessible healthcare professionals for citizens in rural belts. With the right responsibilities, pharmacists can ensure the delivery of safe medical care and reduce adverse medication-related harm events among the patients,” Nandakummar added, while congratulating the SRM College of Pharmacy for ranking 12th in the NIRF Ranking 2022.</p><p> </p><p>Delivering the presidential address, Dr Lt Col A Ravikumar, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, SRMIST said, “ India proved it to the world by developing a drug for COVID-19. India, the pharmaceutical capital of the world, is also evolving in the areas of research and consultancy.”</p><p> </p><p>“Like in other countries, pharmacists should become consultants at the point of delivery level in India,” said A Sundaram, Dean, SRM Medical College and Research Centre, SRMIST. Dr V Chitra, Dean, SRM College of Pharmacy, Dr K S Lakshmi, Director, Admissions, SRMIST and Dr N Damodharan, Vice Principal of SRM College of Pharmacy were among the others present.</p>

 As per the MoU, both institutes share the available facilities for to provide skill development training to students, faculty members . As per MOU both the institutes provide skill development & training and employability to unemployed students in UBA-SRM adopted village areas.

Each of these challenges offers an opportunity for innovation,” said Dr. K
Sivan, Chairman of ISRO, Bangalore and Secretary, Department of Space,
Government of India. Addressing students virtually at the 16th Annual

Kattankulathur, Dr. Sivan said, ” The job scenario is vibrant today and one

<p class="MsoNormal">About 17,204 students belonging to the Faculties of
Engineering and Technology, Faculty of Science and Humanities, Medicine &
Health Sciences and Management studies including 129 Ph.D. scholars received
their degrees. 244 students were awarded medals for having secured First,
Second, and the Third rank in their programmes. The event was held virtually as
per the protocol of the Government of Tamil Nadu due to the ongoing pandemic.
Based on the restrictions imposed by the State Government only Rank Holders and
Ph.D. degree awardees were given their degrees in person at Dr. T.P. Ganesan
Auditorium, Main Campus, Kattankulathur. The rest of the eligible graduands

Our Government has already announced space sector reforms for greater participation of non-governmental entities in space activities. Our next PSLV launch will have satellites from start-up agencies as the first product of these reforms. I now invite SRMIST to join hands with ISRO to work on similar projects in the future.”<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal">He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Digital India’ initiative is another key area to leverage; ISRO has already initiated reforms to make its digital assets available easily to the industry as well as start-ups for making innovative applications in navigation, earth observation as well as disaster management.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal">“India is progressing and it has overcome many challenges. It is the young people who have to put your heads together; to not only discover more challenges but also find solutions. The most important things are taking calculated risks and innovation on how to implement ideas,’ he said and added, “You may fail, but each failure will provide valuable lessons. You all must realize that if you are not failing then you are not trying hard.”<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal">India aspires to be a nation with sustainable, equitable, and inclusive growth. This technology is useful for mass adoption of electric vehicles without remaining perpetually depending on foreign sources.
