This admission season saw a registration of close to
1,40,000 students for taking SRM Joint Entrance Examination for Engineering
(SRMJEEE). The online test was administered from 15th to 25th April 2019 in 123
venues across the country and 5 venues in Middle East. SRMJEEE rank list was
published on 27th April 2019. 45% of candidates are from CBSE, 23% from Andhra
Pradesh Board of Intermediate Education, 12% are from Telangana Board of
Intermediate Education, 7% are from Tamil Nadu Board of Higher Education, and
5% are from Council Of Indian School Certificate Examination.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The common concurrent counselling was scheduled from 3rd May
to 7th May 2019. Candidates are attending the common counselling to seek
admission in any of the four campuses of SRM Institute of Science &
Technology (SRMIST), Delhi NCR Sonepat Campus of Haryana, and Amaravati Campus
of AP.The common concurrent counselling is being held at the following Campuses
: Sonepat in Haryana, Modi Nagar in Ghaziabad, Amaravati in Andhra Pradesh,
Ramapuram and Vadapalani in Chennai, and Kattankulathur near Chennai.<o:p></o:p></div>

Every day 16,000 candidates in 2 sessions will be attending
the counseling, except for the first day where 12,000 candidates have been called.
During the counselling, allotment will be done for 62 UG Engineering programs.<o:p></o:p></div>

On the first day of counselling, Dr. T.R. Paarivendhar,
Founder Chancellor, SRM group of institutions awarded several scholarships to
recognize and reward highly meritorious students and Gomathi Mariappan who
bagged gold in Asian athletic championship recently was felicitated and given a
cheque of rupees 5 Lakhs for her achievement. During his address he stated that
“I am very delighted to start the first day of counselling with a renowned
sports personality who made India proud. I wish students to follow their
passion rather sticking to one course as every courses offered at SRM will give
a unique chance of growth for their future”. Prof. Sandeep Sancheti, Vice
Chancellor SRMIST explained the features and progressive opportunities
available at SRM for students. Prof. N. Sethuraman, Registrar and Prof. T.V.
Gopal, Director Admissions, SRMIST welcomed the parents and candidates who were
a part of counselling.<o:p></o:p></div>

Under Founders’ Scholarship 20 students received 100% waiver
of tuition and hostel fees .In addition to the above, Socio – Economic
scholarship , differently-abled scholarship , Employee ward scholarship, SRM

Resource Development, Govt. of India, with the aim of transforming rural India.
Following the UBA which primarily focuses Rural Health, SRM Institute of
Science & Technology conducted "Medical Camp and Swachhata Rally"
on 12<sup>th</sup> March 2019 at one of the UBA adopted villages,
Nattarasanpattu, Kundrathur block, Kancheepuram. This is also in line with the
series of events planned across SRMIST to commemorate 150<sup>th</sup> birth
anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.</span>

departments participated in the Swachhata rally, to create awareness about
cleanliness among local people and highlighting the importance of the recent
notification from TN Government mandating "Ban on one-time use and
throw-away plastics” effective 1st January 2019. The rally was flagged off
by Dr.M. Logaraj, Head, Community Medicine and Dr.T. Rajasekaran, Deputy Head,
Mechanical Engineering and NSS Coordinator of SRMIST. Armed with captivating posters
and thought-provoking banners, they voiced their cause, gathering support along
the way. The rally ended at the Govt High School, which was the venue for the
inauguration of Medical camp.</span></div>

medical camp,<b> </b>Dr.V.Thirumurugan, Associate Director (CL) delivered the
welcome address and expressed his gratitude towards both the Schools Management
for providing the venue for conducting the inaugural event and medical camp<b>.</b></span><span lang="EN-IN">  He thanked the dignitaries for gracing the function amidst
their busy schedule. <span style="mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;">Dr. N. Sethuraman,
Registrar, SRMIST</span> in his inaugural address, felt nostalgic and
shared the struggles and best moments of his schools studying in a Government
school. He appreciated the schools for maintaining a clean environment. Nattarasanpattu
being an UBA adopted village, he requested all the people to avail the free
medical services provided by SRM hospital. He promised SRM’s support to the NSS
and Community Medicine Department to provide medical service to people.</span></div>

Nattarasanpattu expressed his thanks to SRM for supporting their school. He
humbly requested SRM Management to build compound wall around the school ground
and levelling work. Mr. K. Chakkarapani, Headmaster of Government High School,
and Mrs.K. Suganthi, Headmaster of Government Primary School, Nattarasanpattu
thanked Registrar-SRM for promising to support the people of Nattarasanpattu
with free medical service. They specially mentioned about the UBA cell’s activities
towards their school development. In a special address by Mrs.Satya, State
Level trainee, Swachh Bharat Mission-Grameen, Nattarasanpattu highlighted the
importance of toilet and the ill-effects of open defecation. She requested all
students to take a pledge to construct toilets in their houses, by firmly
requesting their parents. Prizes were distributed to students who took part in
speech, dance, yoga, best volunteer, full attendance and those who secured
first mark in tests.. Ms.IreneSambath, UBA Project Associate, SRMIST proposed
the vote of thanks. The function concluded with National Anthem. 
Refreshment was served to all present and medical camp was formally commenced.</span></div>

purpose and significance of celebrating pongal in SRM Institute of Hotel
Management is <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>to impart the diversified
heritage of our culture. Students of SRM Institute of Hotel Management hosted
the event with many traditional dances like folk dance, theme dances based <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>on jallikatu dance, and there were interesting
traditional games like uri adi game, rope game and silambattam which were
participated by Sikkim and south Korean students. Students of SRM, Sikkim also
performed their traditional dance.</span></b></div>

<span style="font-family: "times new roman" , serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%;">The entire place created
the feel of a traditional set up with the pongal ambience being decorated with
thoranams, mango leaves, a symbolic farmer’s hut was also made in the centric
portion of decoration. A new mud pot was decorated and sweet pongal was prepared
out of the newly harvested rice, jaggery, ghee and was enriched with cashew
nuts, raisins and flavored with elachi. A lump of fresh, lush turmeric along
with sugarcane added charm and brought the exact feel to the setup.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "times new roman" , serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%;">A sumptuous traditional lunch
was served with crispy parupu vadai and thengai thuvayal as starter,
sarkaraivalli kizhangu poriyal, a delicious kootu prepared out of seven
authentic vegetables, steamed rice, aromatic arachuvecha sambar, kalyana rasam,
mochakottai kuzhambu, ever delicious and everloved appalam and a creamy semiya
and sago payasam was served as dessert.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "times new roman" , serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%;">Sugarcane was made into
small pieces after peeling the outer skin and was distributed to the Sikkim and
Korean students and they relished the sweetness of it. All the girls were
offered jasmine flowers and our students helped them to adorn it in their
heads.</span></div>

of Institutions, Dr. T.R. Paarivendhar presided the ceremony. In his
presidential address, he spoke about the importance of placements in the
colleges and gave a message on “Honesty, High Imagination and Hardwork”. </span></div>

Principal. SRM Arts and Science College delivered the Annual Report and the achievements.
In his report, he stated that the college is proud to state that more than 85
students have secured Madras University Ranks (within first 50 Ranks). And <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Mr. K.R. Jaikumar was awarded the Gold Medal
for B.Sc Hotel and Catering Management</b> course by the University of Madras.
During the academic year (2017-18) fee concession has been given to 107
students by the Management and on top of it, the College Management offered
free education to 57 students in this academic year. The College has a very
effective placement cell for campus recruitment. All the eligible students have
been placed in the recruitment drive and have placed a record of 100% placements
consistently for the past five Years. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">“SRM Arts and Science College is a citadel
