SRMIST opens a Research Center;
Young researchers
felicitated with medals on Research Day 2018 Chennai, 01 Mar 2018: SRM
Institute of Science and Technology has successfully organized its 7th edition
of Research day to encourage the early career researchers of SRMIST on 1st of
March 2018.
A new research building has many sophisticated equipment to meet
the cutting edge transitional researches at SRMIST. It is a unique platform for
the young students to present their ideas in various research areas. Research
day, widely has encouraged students to contribute towards the society, to the
field of science and technology through conducting researches. During the
Research Day programme
Prof. V. Ramgopal Rao, Director, IIT- Delhi, has
delivered the chief guest address.
The President of SRM Institute of Science
and Technology, Dr. P. Sathyanarayanan, gave a very encouraging speech
especially for the young researchers. Dr. T.R. Paarivendhar the Founder
Chancellor of SRMIST graced the event along with Prof. Sandeep Sancheti the
Vice Chancellor - SRMIST, Prof. D. Narayana Rao, Director Research - SRMIST,
Prof. S.V. Kasmir Raja the Dean Research – SRMIST. Nearly, 2700 students,
research scholars and faculty members from various departments including
Engineering, Basic sciences, Humanities, Medical and Health sciences, submitted
their abstracts, out of which 797 abstracts were selected after screening by
research committee to get presented. On the turn of large group of research
scholars, Dr. T.R. Paarivendhar emphasized that young researchers can
extensively contribute in the academic and industrial research.
He explained
that young students if exposed to a research environment their new ideas may
form the basics of new innovations and contribute in the technological developments. Dr. P. Sathyanarayanan added “SRM Institute of Science and Technology has
attracted research faculty members with national and international experiences
for every department to enhance the research potential for the students and
help them to nurture their enthusiasm for research starting from the B.Tech
level.” Young students always try to think and do something new, which forms
the background of academic research said Dr. T. R. Paarivendhar. According to
him, Research day provides a platform for the students to present their ideas
and experience the research culture at an early age.
He presented the winning
researchers, with 65 gold medals & 48 silver medals along with certificates
to enhance their research enthusiasm and pursue their aptitude to next level.
The chief guest Prof. V. Ramgopal Rao said that educational institutes will
always be very happy to provide needful research environment in the curriculum
and support more research based interactions and also stated that he is glad to
be in this occasion of SRMIST opening a research center for students to excel.
The event concluded with the grand inauguration of the New Research Building at
SRMIST, Kattankulathur for the best future of research scholars by the
Chancellor along with the President, it was stated by one of the eminent people
that SRM family is proud and happy to extend their new initiative to other
institutes and industries.
