Ponnusamy distributed solar instruments to the participants.</p><p>Dr. R. Sridhar delivered a lecture on the basics of electricity and solar energy. The introductory video by Prof. Chetan Singh Solanki from Energy Swaraj Foundation further inspired the participants.</p><p>Lunch was served at the SRM Sannasi Hostel Mess, after which the participants engaged in a hands-on session where they were trained to install solar study lights in their designated classrooms. The trainers provided detailed instructions on safety measures, operational guidelines and solar lamp wiring, soldering and assembling.</p><p>At the end of the workshop, the participants proudly posed for photos with the solar lights they installed and shared their experiences. Cyclothon and Plantation Drive Held in Collaboration with Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 Initiative

<p><span style="font-size: large;">A Cyclothon and Plantation Drive was organized on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at 6:30 AM in collaboration with the Government of India and the Tamil Nadu Government's Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 initiative, UBA-SRMIST, SRM Green Club, NSS, REACH, and Maraimalai Nagar Municipality. The event saw active participation from over 75 students and faculty members. The cycle rally, which promoted a culture of cleanliness (Swachhata) and sustainability, covered key areas around Maraimalai Nagar. the Department of Transfusion Medicine at S.R.M Medical College Hospital &
Research Centre (S.R.M. MCH & RC) held a rally on June 12th.</strong> This
initiative aimed to raise awareness about blood donation among staff and
students across the SRM campus.<o:p></o:p></p>

entrance, where students and faculty members from various departments gathered.</strong>
Dr. R. Raj Bharath, Professor & Head of the Department of Transfusion
Medicine and Blood Centre, delivered the welcome address. Dr. Nitin M.
Nagarkar, Dean of S.R.M. MCH & RC, emphasized the rally's significance in
promoting blood donation awareness within the community during his inaugural

<p data-sourcepos="9:1-9:395"><strong>Dr. Venkatraman, Medical Superintendent
of S.R.M. MCH & RC, and Dr. V. Thirumurugan, Associate Director of Campus
Life, spoke about the critical role of blood transfusions in treating patients
undergoing surgeries and medical conditions.</strong> Dr. Lakshmanan, NSS
Programme Advisor, and Dr. Jagadeesh from NSS Pharmacy, highlighted the
importance of motivating students to become blood donors.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p data-sourcepos="11:1-11:331"><strong>Dr. Nitin M. Nagarkar flagged off the
rally at the SRM Tech Park entrance.</strong> Over 60 participants marched with
banners and placards containing blood donation slogans in both English and
Tamil to raise awareness among the student community. Volunteers wore caps and
